A new SaaS solution for capacity monitoring and forecasting, which can be deployed both separately or in combination with physical neurons.

We at Heimdall Power are happy to announce the introduction of our new virtual sensors for Dynamic Line Rating (DLR). This new addition to our offerings provides a scalable monitoring concept that leverages our experience with hardware monitoring, combined with data driven software models using advanced weather data. The result is an all-in-one DLR solution that can model an entire network through the combination of hardware and software.

This enables us to cover the whole power grid with the required accuracy at every location, says Magnus Helgeby, Head of Software at Heimdall Power.

For the less critical parts of the grid, virtual sensors can ensure flexible operations at a friendly price point. For more constrained areas, we still strongly recommend the deployment of Neurons, given their higher accuracy.

The development of Virtual Sensors has been enabled by our long experience with physical sensors. Drawing on this knowledge has been crucial when developing a software-based system for dynamic line rating.

Interested in starting to monitor your grid? Virtual Neurons provide a great entry-level solution for everyone that is interested in the solutions we provide at Heimdall Power. Magnus sums it up in the following manner:

Given their lower price point, our Virtual Sensors represents a great opportunity for curious grid operators to get a first taste of our solutions. Get in touch to book a demo!

Highlights of the new product as follows:

  • A new and transparent DLR model designed specifically for virtual sensors. The new model is based on the CIGRE standard, and uses the best available weather data for any given location. Operators can also easily configure it by setting different constraints, ensuring safe operations.

  • New user interface & dashboards for software-based lines allows operators to easily monitor their overhead power line networks using a combination of physical and virtual sensors.

  • Power line creation tools make it easy to create, edit and deploy virtual sensors in your grid based on current needs.

Curious about how you can utilize Virtual Sensors?
