Virtual Neuron

Virtual Neurons are software-based sensors that can be deployed quickly to monitor grid capacity by combining weather and asset data.

Easy to scale

Virtual Neurons can be deployed in minutes, anywhere in the world, using the highest quality weather data.

Tailored to your needs

Virtual Neurons are highly configurable, making it easy to adapt them to your use case and define tolerances and cut-offs.

Trusted & reliable

Developed using our years of experience with physical sensors, Virtual Neurons can provide important insights on grid capacity with no investment in hardware.

Key features

Virtual Neurons have been designed to be transparent and trustworthy. Key features include:

  • Virtual Neurons models the power line, using asset data.
  • Configured using reference data from physical Neurons.
  • Uses high quality weather data as input.
  • Accounts for local topography with spatial resolutions of 90x90m
  • Based on the industry-standard CIGRE DLR Models.
  • FERC Order 881 compliant

Hybrid deployments

Ensure optimal coverage by combining virtual and physical neurons

Virtual Neurons work best when combined with our physical devices, providing a a system for power line monitoring and thermal management.

Adding more physical Neurons along with the Virtual Neurons will increase the reliability of the Virtual ones.

This combination provides unrivaled quality at scale, making true wide area monitoring possible.
